At a point or some points of in our lives, we -parents- give up things for the sake of our family. Our kids. A selfless act (or acts) borne out of love.
It hasn’t been easy for us this past couple of weeks. Matt’s sporadic yet long coughing fits. (yes, even much harder for him, what with all the doctor trips, tests and medicines). Hence, sleep - I haven’t had enough of. Mealtimes –at times skipped. I could barely hold his weight for long but I would hold him and rock him to sleep. Why wouldn’t I? If it would make him feel better, sleep better. If it would comfort him. I will. Plain peanuts.
But God’s sacrifice - for the love of mankind- is absolutely not peanuts. Amazing. Greatest. Ultimate act which sprung out of love. Imagine, how must it be for God who gave up his Son so that we all shall be free from sin. And for Jesus who obeyed The Father and gave up living so that we all shall live. Imagine.

Yes. Manny Pacquiao, a boxer by profession, is the ultimate antidote to traffic conditions.
I’m not saying that just because I’m a big fan of his but because I saw it myself. I have been seeing it all these years. I see how different the traffic situation is (from normal days) every time he has a fight. I saw it years ago. I saw it few months back.
Again, the reality stared at me today as I drove to a nearby restaurant. I only saw few motorists on the road.
Where are the jeepneys? The cars? So few, I could count them with my fingers. The traffic condition was so ideal. If I had not known his fight was set today, I’d have assumed that the public transportation group was on strike. Such was the effect of his fight. He obviously had everyone hooked on the TV, pay-per-view or whatever.
When Pacman, as Pacquiao is fondly called in Pinas, fights on the boxing ring (wherever in the world it may be), trust me, it’s a perfect day for a drive. And it’s a perfect day to drop by the grocery store. I did this last year and as expected, the queues were not that long.
And so goes the reason why I love this man - apart from the fact that he always brings home the bacon. Now, can we have him fight on the boxing ring every day?
Note: Today, Pacquiao wins the fight by split decision against Marquez. Venue: Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino. Official scorecards of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight: Jerry Roth, 115-112 (Marquez); Duane Ford, 115-112 (Pacquiao); and Tom Miller, 114-113 (Pacquiao). Read story here.

It would have been wonderful to receive flowers but no flower came last Tuesday. But I will not complain. I will only sulk ;-)
But really, more than anything in the world I am already so much blessed. And no flower could top these blessings.
- I am thankful for this marriage. It has shown me a lot about loving and growing. And I am learning everyday.
- I am thankful for an understanding and generous husband who takes care of our needs and some wants (except for the flowers! Wink).
- I am thankful that God is working in our marriage.
- I am thankful for the fruit of this marriage - my son. He has brought so much joy in our lives and how I love him so!
- I am thankful that few days from now, Matt and I will be seeing Houston.
“Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
I’m being mushy now but I must admit that four years after we made our wedding vows, my heart still bursts with joy everytime I remember the W day.

I swear I no longer fit into this stiletto. How much more with my gown? But that - I don’t want to find out. Don’t let me add salt to a bleeding injury. No salt. I could do better with hot chichi…chili sauce this cold dawn.
So let there be hot chili sauce. No bouquets but hot chili sauce only. No bouquets?
Now even if I no longer fit into this stiletto, I know my hand still fits in yours. Forever. And even without my asking, I know you’ll keep my heart –and me- hohoohooo… whole.
Even if I torture you about the bouquets again and again.
