Photos by Estan

I was in the mall the other day, intending to pick up some supplies but was momentarily sidetracked when  I unexpectedly saw some of my former boss’ photos displayed on the second floor lobby.

Asian News in Pictures! BTW,these photos were taken using my camphone lang.

From engineer to freelance photojournalist, my former boss has somehow made a name in his new field.

And as I’ve mentioned on my FB wall, seeing his work made me feel proud to have known him at one point in my life.

Stalking Mark Zuckerberg

And I’ve just read that the young founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg is being stalked. What irony.

Moreover, Mark has filed for a TRO and has obtained it, news from TMZ says.

FA

Today, I learned of a  field in accountancy that is somehow new to my ears: forensic accounting. Accounting is a familiar thing; so is forensic (I always relate it to crimes and court battles). But forensic accounting is quite new, I had to research all about this term.

According to Mister Wiki, “forensic accounting is the specialty practice area of accountancy that describes engagements that result from actual or anticipated disputes or litigation.” Oh the jargons! But to put it in simple terms, the people who are in the field of forensic accounting, called forensic accountants, review and analyze financial data/ find evidence that could be useful in the court.

Now this calls to mind about my girl friend who’s in the middle of a legal battle against his ex-husband.  As one of the issues is financial support, this explains why she had to employ the services of one FA. For awhile there, I thought accountants are just useful in mergers, acquisition, bookkeeping/auditing/banking  but now I understand they are also likely needed in legal concerns i.e. marital disputes, insurance claims, and the like.

A Prayer for Teachers

I received this email last October and I hope to share this prayer (for our teachers) with everyone:

Giver of All Wisdom and Greatest of all Teachers,
Look upon our teachers with love.

Grant them the perseverance
To nurture our eager minds
And to never give up on us who fall behind.

Bless their hearts
For they rejoice when we succeed
And encourage us when we fail.

Endow them with gentle patience
For the path of learning is never easy.

Kindle a spirit of passion in them
It is the flame that ignites the love of learning in us.

Help them see the potential in each student
Their belief in us means much more than the grade we make.

Instill in them a commitment to keep on learning.
It shows us to not fear new knowledge and experiences.

Inspire them to touch the future.
They influence how big a dream we dream for ourselves.

Bless our teachers who have come before,
for their work endures to this day.

Let the light of Your example shine upon all teachers:
To build up with their words
To love with their mind
To share with their heart

Amen.

Lindsay Lohan’s Version of The Last Sitting

lilo I’ve never been much of a fan of Lindsay Lohan but I’ve just seen  photos of her taken by Bert Stern (ya, ya am soo late!) and I can’t help but love them (take note: not her! hehe).

Totally love the photos - and mostly because, they all have a raw look (and feel) to them.  At this time and age, these could have been enhanced  to make everything clear and smooth and ethereal but no,  Lilo’s photos speak of rawness (although I cannot say iff edits were made). BTW, these photos are “remakes” of famous actress Marilyn Monroe’s “The Last Sitting” which was also taken by Bert Stern 6 weeks before she was found dead due to drug overdose.

See some of Lindsay Lohan’s version of The Last Sitting photographs here. Beautiful,ey?

Pacquiao Solves Traffic Conditions

Yes. Manny Pacquiao, a boxer by profession, is the ultimate antidote to traffic conditions.

I’m not saying that just because I’m a big fan of his but because I saw it myself. I have been seeing it all these years. I see how different the traffic situation is (from normal days) every time he has a fight. I saw it years ago. I saw it few months back.

Again, the reality stared at me today as I drove to a nearby restaurant. I only saw few motorists on the road.

Where are the jeepneys? The cars? So few, I could count them with my fingers. The traffic condition was so ideal. If I had not known his fight was set today, I’d have assumed that the public transportation group was on strike. Such was the effect of his fight. He obviously had everyone hooked on the TV, pay-per-view or whatever.

When Pacman, as Pacquiao is fondly called in Pinas, fights on the boxing ring (wherever in the world it may be), trust me, it’s a perfect day for a drive. And it’s a perfect day to drop by the grocery store. I did this last year and as expected, the queues were not that long.

And so goes the reason why I love this man - apart from the fact that he always brings home the bacon. Now, can we have him fight on the boxing ring every day?

Note: Today, Pacquiao wins the fight by split decision against Marquez. Venue: Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino. Official scorecards of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight: Jerry Roth, 115-112 (Marquez); Duane Ford, 115-112 (Pacquiao); and Tom Miller, 114-113 (Pacquiao). Read story here.
