Welcome to the land down under

As I was leaving the house, a van drove its way inside the gate and the driver said something I didn’t quite hear. Scaredy cat that I am, I  was about to make a mad dash to the nearby gas station where there are surely other people. But the guy quickly asked if I live in the house to which I nodded. He’s delivering  a package, he said.

And so he is a postman. With my scared countenance, I must have looked funny to him. But so what. I am new to this place and getting scared to strangers must be natural.

And yes, here I am in the land down under. Finally. It feels good to be here in this wonderful place but it’s also scary, simply because I have yet to familiarize  myself with everything (though it’s not my first time here). And I am starting a new life here, practically from scratch. Scary. Really, this is not my comfort zone.

I am currently living with a couple,  who are so nice to let me in their home while I’m still looking for employment. The wife is a former officemate of mine. Their friendship as well as their home is a source of comfort for now. But soon, I know I will have to carve my path and face my fears and challenges of being in this new place on my own. Scared, yes but I know I will get over it in time.

And that postman scare this morning will just be a dry leaf to be blown by the wind, and will be replaced of numerous  new leaves of memories here in Oz, I’m sure.

Thankful Thursday

It’s been awhile since I participated in Thankful Thursday. But I’m glad to get back to my usual Thursday routine now. *smile*

First, lemme greet everyone a Happy New Year. I’m positive that with prayers and hardwork we’ll get through this year just fine.

Second, for my thankful list, here are few of the things I’m thankful for this week:

- the roof that keeps us protected from the bad weather

- for packages we received yesterday from my brother.

-for the Internet -it keeps me posted with friends (offline and online) and loved ones who are thousands of miles away.

- that the rain has stopped already (the city has been declared to be in  the state of calamity due to  incessant rains causing flash floods and landslides)

- for wonderful people who are helping the flood victims. It’s just amazing that in times of calamity, there  are lots of generous people who are always willing  to help.

And before I end this post, here’s a shot I took when I visited the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador.

Thank You Lord

thur I had a mini-vaca to this place called Boracay. It’s actually a company-sponsored trip and I just feel so blessed to have been able to visit this beautiful place which is at the top of Yahoo Travel list of Best Beaches in 2007. It’s a delightful place to be - definitely a haven for beachcombers. My vaca there was just short - but a sweet and memorable one. I did have a great time (despite missing my son so bad).

So this TT, apart from thanking God for answered prayers and for His blessings to me and my family, I’m going to be thankful for this trip.

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” - Psalm 107:8

Thank you Lord - for this chance to visit this wonderful place.

For the time to chill and enjoy the beauty of Nature- of your creations.

Thank you Lord - that for the sunset and every sunset that I see, I feel and see Your great love.

And thank you Lord for a safe landing and for a safe and wonderful trip.
